We had a last minute change of plan yesterday, and nipped up the M1 to visit RHS Chatsworth Flower Show.
What a grand venue for a show – so much space and a beautiful backdrop of rolling hillsides and trees framing the views. Great to see some familiar faces in the show gardens, and some really lovely planting in some of the Free Form gardens.
The Heart of Glass installation by Cityscapes was an impressive centrepiece: a giant glitter ball reflecting light around the inflatable ‘conservatory’ and is surrounded by a suspended geometrical moss framework. Bursts of mist create condensation, while a large pool collects the drips and a soundtrack adds another layer to the experience.
A trip into the Floral Marquee is always a treat for the senses, and,as usual, we weren’t disappointed here, either!
Sadly we ran out of time to see The Trout Stream planting, or to wander round the garden, and we would have liked to see the House Style exhibition (runs until 22 October).
Glad we have a great excuse to plan another visit 🙂
